Bushwick Brooklyn

I am so annoyed with myself that I misplaced all of my notes from our recent trip to Bushwick Brooklyn! Even though we went less than a month ago (May 30, 2021), so much has happened since then that I can hardly recall it (sad but true!).  I will try my best to give you a glimpse into what we did:

It was pouring rain that day, but we had tickets to The Euphoria Midst Bloom Art Installation.  Reluctantly, we motivated ourselves to leave the house and get back on the road again. Although the GPS said we were headed in the right direction, the deserted industrial streets of Bushwick told another story. Surprising, we actually found what we were looking for: the Absurd Conclave, a “Multipurpose Venue/Art Studio”

The artists of Euphoria Midst wanted to creatively express the movement from a COVID world back into a semblance of normalcy.  The idea behind the installation is that despite all of the sadness that the pandemic brought to our world, we can find bliss again as the virus loses momentum.  The themes are “hope, optimism and positivity”. I just love the joy and good will behind this homemade space, although it does lack some of the bells and whistles (and huge pockets) of the other immersive experiences we have been to (such as Arcadia Earth or Color Factory).

The are several areas to explore at Euphoria Midst:  vineyard oasis, the child within, time a commodity, room of layers and new horizon. Here are some photos:

In search of some grub, we wandered the art covered streets of the neighborhood. This area of Brooklyn is famous for its fabulous “open air gallery”. Known as The Bushwick Collective, and started by Joe Ficalora, it features murals painted by artists from all over the world.   It is truly worth the trip over the bridge just to check it out.

What’s for lunch?

We ate at The Runaway Diner, a relatively new restaurant with a nice atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service.

I highly recommend a trip to Bushwick Brooklyn!
