We visited France with our twins when they were almost 5 years old. Here’s what we did in Paris with kids.
What we did in Paris with kids
Sacre Coeur (Montmatre)
- It’s fun to take the funicular up!
Place Du Tertre (Montmatre)
- Here, you will find rows and rows of ready and willing portrait artists
Eiffel Tower
- If you can, get tickets online in advance because the wait here is very long.
Louvre Museum
- The museum was closed on the day we went. Make sure you check the schedule if this is on your must – do list
- It does get super crowded, so buy tickets online and get there early if you can!
Musee D’Orsay
- I have always loved this museum. It is much smaller and way more manageable than the Louvre…plus they have Monet!
Jardin Luxembourg
- There was a LINE (!) to get into the playground, so my kids settled on a horseback ride and renting sailboats
Notre Dame
- This church is so beautiful, both inside and out…sadly after the fire (Spring 2019), I don’t know if you can even go in now
Musee Pompidou
- Best Paris museum, according to my children. They just loved looking at all of the interesting works of art.
Jardin Tuileries
- It is so beautiful there, but there are very few shady spots to walk.
Bateau
- It’s fun to see the city from a different perspective, but don’t expect any relief from the heat😅
Le Sorbonne
- We visited this University in the Latin Quarter just to see it (and of course to continue our ongoing discussion of higher education!)
Where We Stayed in Paris With Kids
- Instead of staying in a hotel, we decided to get an apartment so we could live as the Parisians do.
- We found the apartment through a company called Haven In Paris, which we were very happy with.
- We had a charming one-bedroom apartment with an awesome view
What We Ate
Breakfast at home
- The best thing about staying in an apartment was the breakfast we went to buy every morning at the small neighborhood specialty shops.
- Fresh baguette is the beast breakfast ever!
- By the end of the week, all of the local vendors knew our names 😃
YUMMY TREATS!
CHEESE!
Eggs
- My sister-in-law recommended Le Bonaparte in St. Germain Des Pres for brunch
Ice cream!
- Berthillion on Ile de St. Louis was not as great as it was said to be in my research.
How We Got Around
Metro
- Figuring out how to purchase a card was a challenge
Pedi-Cab
- requested by the kids
